I don’t even know where to begin with this one because I’m not entirely sure I processed this episode properly. Episode seven of Road to Berlin is really out there to say the least. Keep in mind that I’ve seen some crazy stuff in Strike Witches in the previous seasons such as the panty thief or drunk Mio running around the tunnels of a cave while laughing like a crazy maniac. Despite that, Road to Berlin has found a way to surpass those two episodes by giving us the most creative fan service I have ever seen. There is some ancient fertility doll which casts a curse upon the witches which makes their breasts bigger. It sort of plays out like a zombie movie in which the person who is cursed can “infect” another person by grabbing their chest and thus making their breasts bigger too. All I can really say is that I should have seen something like this coming.

The episode begins by telling us that Yoshika’s magic is flaring up for the second time this season. You can imagine my reaction in hearing that again, but before I had the chance to bang my head somewhere for the show making this a problem again, Lynette stumbles upon a strange doll in the middle of the woods and brings it back to the base because she “just felt like it was important”. It doesn’t really make sense, but I already know what this episode is setting up so there is no reason to think logically about it. Shortly after, the doll curses Lucchini and her breasts get bigger as she proceeds to run around the base like a maniac (hmm seems familiar).

Lucchini grabs Sanya’s chest and Sanya gets bigger, then Sanya grabs Eila’s chest and Eila gets bigger. From here the episode plays out like a zombie movie and the infected who now have a bigger bust are trying to infect the other witches so they too can have a bigger chest. The episodes even makes time to poke fun at horror movie clichés such as Shizuka “sacrificing” herself to give Yoshika and Lynette time to run away or Barkhorn trying to use her striker unit to call for help only to find out it was a trap set up by the busty witches. Aside from that, the fertility doll is self-aware and its goal is to possess nine witches so that they can offer a prayer of fertility to it.

Yoshika and Lynette are the only ones left standing. Yoshika ends up getting captured and is tied up as an offering in a cliché horror movie fashion. Lynette is determined to save her friends and grabs her sniper rifle as she infiltrates the ritual to take out the doll. After Lynette frees Yoshika, Yoshika’s face falls into Lynette’s chest and her magic powers suddenly come back. Well it was only temporarily, but at this point if touching someone’s chest is what will get Yoshika her magic back, then so be it. Just let the girl have her magic. Yoshika and Lynette team up to fight the doll and Lynette gets a one shot one kill as her sniper shot pierces through the doll and shatters it. All the witches return to normal as the curse is broken, though Lucchini and Perrine were a little upset that they returned to being flat again.

Honestly I’m kind of split on this episode. Obviously it was a filler episode that didn’t add to the plot in any way which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, it did feel strange to watch this after such a strong episode six. On the other hand, the premise was creative and is something that is meant to relax and have fun with. If I remember correctly, episode seven of every season seems to be the fan service episode so I should have known. This would have made a great Halloween episode if it was aired a few weeks ago instead of now. If you ever wondered what your favorite witch looked like with bigger breasts outside of fan art, this should answer your question.
